Taesan Kim,
Ph.D. was a Biosafety Specialist and Leader of
the GMO Safety Assessment Team working
for the National Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology(NIAB)/Rural Development Administration, Korea.
He is giving lectures on GMO Environmental Safety for graduate student at Seoul Women's
University. He did his MS in Plant Pathology at Seoul National University in 1985. Dr. Kim
received his PhD from the University of Minnesota, Department of Agronomy and Plant
Genetics in 1992. He has been the OECD's Korea contact point for the working group on
Harmonization of Regulatory Oversight in Biotechnology since 1998. He is a member of the
Environmental Safety assessment committee for GMO/Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry,
as well as a member of the Food Safety Assessment Committee for the GMO/Korea Food
and Drug Administration.
Taesan Kim is also working as a Principal Investigator for the safety assessment research
project called Bio Green 21 of RDA for herbicide tolerant rice.
He is currently work as a Director of Genetic Resources Div., NIAB(genebank@rda.go.kr)
